Moved back to Jackson, and is playing Horn again after a 17 year break. Played with a community band in Massachusetts for 5 years during and after college.
Jason joined the Jackson Hole Community Band as assistant conductor and saxophonist in the fall of 2007 then took the role as full time conductor and music director at the beginning of 2008. Jason has been in the Jackson Hole area since 1992 and conducts the Jazz Foundation of Jackson Hole's 20-piece Big Band. He studied saxophone at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts as well as at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he earned a Master's Degree in music. He is a member of local favorites Jackson 6, Big Phatty and Global Review. He directed the music of "Hair," a Jackson Community Theater production in 2007. He is an active performer and teacher in the Jackson area.
Don earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from Indiana University and taught public school music early in his instructional career. Subsequently he earned his Doctorate in Education in Instructional Technology at IU. After his relocation to Jackson Hole in 1983 he became a founding member of a brass quintet, which became the impetus for him (along with Tom Ninnemann) to start the Jackson Hole Community Band in 1989. He also conducted the choir at Jackson's First Baptist Church for 7 years and the choir at the Presbyterian Church for 4 years. He led the JHCB for its first 16 1/2 years until his retirement in 2005. He continues to play in this band and the community jazz band, as well as occasionally filling in as conductor.
