To provide an outlet for musicians in Jackson Hole to experience Big Band Jazz and to nurture and promote the appreciation of Jazz and its many forms. A uniquely American style of music, the roots of Jazz are celebrated in the rich styles that stroll through our collective history.
JFJH serves all musicians who have a desire to learn and experience music. With instrument in hand and an open mind, we begin our journey in Jazz. Along the way, swing, vocal ballads and sambas take us to places where sound and emotion dance through the air, and all the while, new ideas, abstract thought, and new ways of communicating are all possible in Jazz.
JFJH counted off in 1992 rehearsing on Wednesday nights. The group performs one to two concerts a month with featured local musicians like Jason Fritts, John Kidwell, and Valerie Seaberg. JFJH has hosted professional saxophonist Ralph Lalama and composer and professor at Hoftra University, David Lalama.
