The Jackson Hole Community band is a 30-piece ensemble founded in 1989. We rehearse nearly year-around to provide free entertainment – from old favorites by Duke Ellington, to toe tapping marches by Sousa, to classics by Mussorgsky, at many community events, public concerts, and parades. Our members, all volunteers, hail from backgrounds as diverse as engineering, software, medicine, law, real estate, and the clergy and range in age from early-teens to the eighties. We have no skill level requirement or auditions, but prefer people who have played at least the junior high skill level. Most members have had a 15- to 20- year break before joining. It’s never too late to join! To supply musical accompaniment to special events for the benefit of both the musicians and the audience.
In 2019, you can give beginning August 1st until 5 pm on September 13th. We hope you can join us Saturday, September 7th, for Old Bill’s at the Jackson Town Square!

2019 will mark our 30th season of community concerts and activities! At this major milestone, the JHCB continues to grow and improve in both musicianship and outreach. With your help, we hope our 30th season will be the best one yet! Comprised of musicians of all ages and backgrounds, drawn together through a shared love of music and a commitment to enhancing Jackson Hole’s artistic and cultural character, we hope you’ll consider supporting the financial health of the Band this year through Old Bill’s Fun Run.
Thanks to this support we have been able to continue our efforts to create fun and unique concerts for the community such as last season’s “A Wrinkle in 3/4 Time” spring concert musical time traveling adventure. Your donation through Old Bills Fun Run helps to buy new music, keeps our performance trailers rolling, pay rent in our rehearsal space in the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts, and supply our equipment and instrument needs, among many other things.
We have many exciting events planned for this anniversary season, and we hope that you will be along for the ride with us!
Thank you from all of the Jackson Hole Community Band Members.

Stop. Listen. Is your radio or TV on? I’ll bet you hear music, even if it’s in the background. Music permeates our lives, sometimes creating suspense but usually providing fun.
In the mid ’80s we formed a brass quintet in Jackson and played for various community events. Some of us said, “It sure would be nice to have a band.” So, we started the Jackson Hole Community Band, now nearly 3 decades ago.
“Community Band” has at least 2 connotations. It’s a concert band that is comprised of members of the Jackson Hole Community (extending into Teton Valley, Star Valley, and Pinedale/Big Piney). It’s also a band for the community, playing for many occasions in the community: holiday parades, town square lightings, ground-breaking and dedicatory ceremonies for schools and hospital expansion, concerts in public schools, combined concerts with high school and adult vocal groups, and every Old Bill’s Fun Run’s annual “party” in Jackson. Spin-off groups from the band provide TubaChristmas and special music presentations in local churches, as well as concerts of their own. The results are usually measured in smiles and happiness. Yes, music is fun – to hear and to play. Since the beginning, having fun – and providing enjoyment for our many and varied audiences – have been hallmarks of our Jackson Hole Community Band – in all aspects.
In 2018, you can give beginning August 1st until 5 pm on September 14th. We hope you can join us Saturday, September 8th, for Old Bill’s at the Jackson Town Square!
