I closed Yahoo and turned off as much as it would let me without deleting the group. First opened Feb 8, 2006, band members have relied on the Yahoo event reminders. The Yahoo reminders stopped working for the umpteenth time this spring. I have been looking for a replacement for a few years with no luck… until now.

THANK YOU to all who signed up early so I could test the program and make sure it did everything it promised. And it does.
It will NOT replace the inScoreOrder music library for concert planning and rehearsal music. That will remain the same.
It completely replaces Yahoo, plus the members only newsletter blasts, and it adds some handy functionality. The newsletter program (like this) will be used for newsletters. Members only informational emails will be run through the new band.us.
It integrates with the google event and rehearsal calendars I already keep up to date. And it sends you event reminders, which you can turn off if you like. It works with email, text messages, or an APP (your choice). It has an Apple, Google Play, and Desktop App. You will have more control on what lands in your email box. AND Best part…. Ron can even participate.
It’s so easy to use even a caveman can do it! Meaning not every single email to the band has to go though me (Julie). Any board member or Zach can post a message and any band member can comment on it.
The goal is to have everyone on board so it can be fully in use by the end of the summer.
That’s around 80 people.
Please take some time now to sign yourself up.
If you already use this app no need for a new account. If another group you are in uses this app you do not need separate log ins.
Once logged on, click here, and ask to be a member. https://band.us/@jhcband
It is a private group. I set a question to answer when you request membership to help me keep out the rest of the world.
Nothing is perfect. This was originally built for a marching band full of students. It has some overly cute stuff available and the notifications can get a little crazy if you don’t look at your settings. PLEASE save this link to help set notifications how you like them. https://band.us/band/62412132/post/160
I tried the desktop website, desktop app, and the iPhone app. My favorite way to use this is to only have it on my phone. I turned off the email notifications and have all my band information on the app, on my phone.
Sectionals:
From Lee’s most excellent idea I was able to set up sectionals. Each section can decide how and if to use, I will set section leaders as the admin as they sign in.
Example: If I’m running late I can message the flute section and all the flutes get a message (based on their own settings) that I’m running late. OR Zach can message a particular section special instructions.
