PS – If you were curious as to why I we use the band app, and I have several people ask, and not this method (band newsletter) for all communications read on…
Why not use the newsletter program (this) for ALL band comms?
- It’s a marketing app made for newsletters
- It gets spammed from some peoples accounts (some members don’t get the emails)
- It is complicated and time consuming
- It has over 20 steps to compose and send.
- The emails take hours and sometimes a full day to process though the queue
- I have to babysit the Q
- The JHCBand email it comes from is blocked by government sites. (some members can’t get the emails)
- I’m the only one who can use it
- The formatting tools are very hard to use and make the emails look readable.
- All questions get routed through me
Why not send band comms from my personal account?
- Mass mails like our band comms are called SPAM, and could get me in trouble with my ISP and/or email provider
- Having one person the keeper of the email list on their private computer in an organization it a bad idea.
- I would have to keep up on spamming regs and add disclaimer to my emails.
- I’m the only one who can send emails
- All questions get routed through me
Why not set up google or yahoo groups like before?
- It doesn’t work like before and won’t work for us
- Not reliable
- No automation that works well
Why not set up google or yahoo email?
- Mass mails like our band comms are called SPAM, and our account could get shut down.
- No automation
Why I use the band app
- Anyone can post
- Anyone can use (Many different ways to access)
- Question and answers are super easy
- Lots of automation
- Lots of options and tools
- Members can control how and what they see
- Integrates with our existing google calendar
- Someone else does the back end programing
- It’s free
- I don’t have to keep up on spamming regs
The band app’s notifications default to all, but you can change that.
