A Great Time to Join the Band

We are a group of musicians with “day jobs” that play music together for the joy of it. All volunteers, we hail from backgrounds as diverse as engineering, law, real estate, and the clergy and range in age from early-teens to the eighties.

Newcomers, walk-ins, and visitors are always welcome. If you can read music and have some experience please dust off your instrument and join us. Many of our members have had a 20 to 30 year gap when they joined the band. Our conductor selects a variety of music to challenge all abilities. We rehearse Thursday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 upstairs in the Arts Center performing arts wing, between Glenwood & Cache. Our season runs from September through the Fourth of July, with brief breaks at Christmas and Spring Break.

College credit through Central Wyoming College (CWC) available. Go to http://jhcband.org/member-resources/ for more information.

We have 3 more rehearsals before our Winter Solstice Celebration concert. If you are thinking about joining us come sit in with “your section” and meet our members. 12/4, 12/11, & 12/18

Thank You for a Successful Concert

The Jackson Hole Community Band had its fifth annual Halloween concert this past Saturday out at Teton Village. It was a great success and we thank everyone who made it out to the performance. Due to a water main bursting at Walk Festival Hall, we almost had to cancel the concert. But thanks to the kindness and efforts of several Teton Village businesses and their staffs, we were able to make a last minute venue change and put the show on anyway.

The Jackson Hole Community Band Board members would like to send our most sincere thanks to Grand Teton Music Festival and Doug Henderson for accommodating us and helping us deal with the venue change, Teton Village Association for allowing us to perform on the Village Commons,Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Jerry Bland for giving us blanket permission to perform outdoors on JHMR property if needed, Hotel Terra for allowing us to borrow chairs to seat our audience, Christy and Garth Gillespie for letting us borrow their moving van on such short notice so that we could bring out extra percussion equipment, Steve Friedlander for providing us with bottled water, and, of course, every member of the Jackson Hole Community Band for being able to switch gears and pull off a fun show outdoors in an unplanned location. Also, thank you to all the Teton Village businesses who participated in this event and to the audience for taking it all in stride. We couldn’t have done this without all of you! This community is truly great!

-Jason Wright, JHCB Board President
