Conductor News

Dear Musicians and Friends of the Community,

This season is going to be an exciting one! As I study scores of music for our upcoming Old Bill’s concert, it only makes me more anxious to bring to life the music written with a group of talented and driven musicians. Since I’ve joined the Jackson Hole Community Band last year as a percussionist, my life in Jackson has been given a purpose.

As the new director of the band, my goal is to bring a new energy and artistic style to the group that still retains the same fun environment I came into over a year ago. I feel that Old Bills is great to start off the season because it will have that familiar excitement right off the bat. When the Halloween concert music comes into play, I feel the group will be ready to take on some new ideas. I’ve already picked a piece that features a great number of musical effects, including my personal favorite, the water gong. There will also be a piece by P.D.Q. Bach that brings a very humorous and unexpected take on band music. Further down the road, I hope to find a piece that involves electronics.

I have no doubt 2016-17 is going to be a fun season! With the support of friends, family and community, it’s a no-brainer.

Cheers,
-Zach Singer

Rehearsals begin this Thursday, August 25th, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Center for the Arts, upstairs in the performing arts wing.

Welcome our New Conductor

Please help us welcome our new conductor, Zachary “Zach” Singer, by attending our 7th annual Halloween concert!

Zach has selected 45 minutes of music fitting for Halloween, including feet stomping, finger snapping, moans and groans, and other interesting sounds. Have you ever heard of a water gong?

Zachary joined the Jackson Hole Community Band in May 2015 as a percussionist. Since then, he has taken on more music projects in Jackson. When announced In March 2016, Zachary jumped at the opportunity to lead the JHCB as the new director. He is very excited to work with a group of well rounded musicians and expand his musical prowess.

Costumes Galore

Doc and Marty

It is an exciting moment for audience and band members alike to witness the band dressed up in costume. In Halloween Concerts past we have witnessed Valkyries, pirates, witches, and other engaging costumes. You may remember our Zach and Jason (our president) as Doc and Marty at last year’s concert.

Kids and kids at heart should show off their creative talents and come in costume as well. And be prepared, all goblins and ghouls will be welcomed on stage for the annual costume parade. Get those cameras ready! Be sure to tag your photos #JHCBand.

Trick or Treat

After our traditional Adams Family sing along, the little ghosts and goblins can retrieve candy from generous local businesses. Trick-or-Treat maps will be available at the concert, or return to this page for a list of participating businesses.

In partnership with the Grand Teton Music Festival, the concert will be on Saturday, October 29th at 3:00PM at Walk Festival Hall. The concert is FREE and open to the public. Please join us for this fun Halloween event!

Farmers Market Petting Zoo

The Jackson Hole Community Band is excited to participate in the 2016 Jackson Hole Farmers Market on Saturday, September 3rd, as the non profit of the week. Please help us make music possible by supporting our local farmers this Saturday and stocking your cupboards with fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, chocolates, homemade pies, scones, and much more.

By shopping at the market you are supporting local area growers and fresh food vendors as well as contributing to worthwhile causes in our community. Instead of charging Farmers Market Vendors to sell on the Town Square each Saturday, they donate 10% of their weekly revenues to the featured Non-Profit of the Week.

The Jackson Hole Community Band will be there with our petting zoo instruments. Be sure to stop by our booth, have a cup of coffee, beat on the bass drum, and meet the musicians. We look forward to seeing you there!
