Some people assume their account info isn’t very sensitive, so they might pick something easy-to-remember passwords, like a sequence of numbers or a pet’s name. It seems harmless, right? Why require something more complex?

Even if your information doesn’t seem valuable, weak passwords make the whole system more vulnerable. Attackers don’t go after people — they go after easy logins, and one compromised account can create problems for everyone.

Our site protects private member data, music files, and other tools. One weak password can open the door for spam, data loss, or malware infections that affect the system and other members.

Pick a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and a symbol — or a short memorable phrase — and don’t reuse passwords from other sites. If keeping track of complex passwords feels tricky, a password manager can help you stay secure while making it easy to log in.
